NJCTE Writing Contest Coordinator
The New Jersey Council of Teachers of English seeks a Student Writing Contest Director to oversee the transformation of our K-12 contest from a limited venue for student competition and publication to a statewide resource for students of all geographic, racial, age, and economic levels desiring to employ the writing and speaking arts to give shape and expression to the worlds they inhabit. This person will work with the Contest Reconstruction Committee to develop school-based writing forums, workshops for teachers to learn how to nurture student writing abilities, a mission statement and advertising campaign to publicize our creative writing initiative, etc. The individual we seek could have a strong background in creative writing, and possible ties to arts institutions in New Jersey, especially in urban areas, as well as deep roots in education.
